stuck at the kargathar proving grounds quest

I've been having problem with quests regarding Draenor after crossing dark portal. Kargathar is always ahead of the place where you get and give quests, I was able to manage so far, but now can't find him anymore so I cannot do the rest of the quest chain. they all disappeared before the arena and cannot complete  the kargathar proving grounds quest . the gates are all open meaning subsequent quests are done without even getting the quests. therefore I wont be able to get to the garrison. any help?

There's a shortcut to Draenor that I generally recommend.  It's near the Earthshrine in the capital city, look for the mini dark portal near the other portals to Hyjal etc
