Providing a fix to 8.2 issues

8 posts in this topic

I have seen many threads with players having issues connecting to the to BfA realm after the update. From observation, the main issue lies in the Firestorm streaming server and streaming component. What you need to do is try from time to time. Go to the task manager and kill the wow.exe file and start over then monitor the download speed. If you see no data downloaded within five minutes, you can start over. I have personally sniffed one of the links that my client was downloading and attempted to download it using a download manager. It got interrupted five times (26mb only). I have managed to connect into the game, eventually.

I want to provide a simple patch for you guys until Firestorm solves the issue. Sadly, I did not know about the update, so I did not backup the client. I am looking for any player who is a bit tech savvy and willing to make an effort to solve his issue. You will have to back up your game client first (~56GB+ folder). I will provide you with a patch (around 900MB) that you will apply to the main folder and some means for verification.

If anyone is interested, please let me know in here.

P.S. It would better if any junior staff member is involved with this, so it is official. Also, if I anyone has both clients (pre and post 8.2 content update), I can assist you in creating much smaller patch/update.

Sam it would be great if you can do a work around, but No dev has responded since these posts came up and I believe no-one has the 8.2 content update, so I hope a dev comes on and works with you on this, many thanks

I am currently logged into the game, Nutter. I am trying to provide a solution for the players who still have issues. Though, nobody is interested in making an effort, so far. Once I verify that the patch works, I will release it for everyone. I just need somebody who is willing to backup his game client (in case something goes wrong), and make some effort.

Hey sam, i can approve that youre right and its a problem with firestorm streaming server that drops the download requests,

but as i found it firestorm dropping connection is regional and I WAS ABLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE BY USING A USA or CANADIAN BASED VPN and i suggest to everyone to do so. hope it helps :)

Details:

when i launched the wow first time this morning it downloaded a bit at appx speed of 50kB/s per sec but only for like 5 minutes and then stopped doing anything at 194.5 MB RAM usage, i even left it running like 5 hours when i left the home, end tasking the wow.exe and retryin with diffrent privilages like running as administrator did nothing, but when i used my canada vpn it came back to life and started downloading at speed range of 7 to 45 kB/s, ram usage started to increase to like 205 MB and in 15 minutes i could log in to the game.

@Masoud94, Firestorm servers are actually located in France (including the streaming server).

Seems nobody is wiling to make an effort in solving their issue. So, I guess it is up to you guys.
