[Mop] Affli PvP Guide

11 posts in this topic

Hello Guyes Drarxon here!

I made this topic because some players ask me ingame to tell them how to play affli. I will make now a small guide about affli lock.

Ok lets go!

1)   Stat Priority

Int > Haste > Mastery

U need about 10600 haste to reach cap, if u reached this cap u can go full mastery.

2)   Talents

For affli i prefer this talent build: 1 Talent:            http://www.wowhead.com/spell=108359

                                                   2 Talent:            http://www.wowhead.com/spell=30283

                                                   3 Talent:            http://www.wowhead.com/spell=108415

4 Talent:            http://www.wowhead.com/spell=111397 for melee or

                                                                             http://www.wowhead.com/spell=108482 for caster.

                                                   5 Talent:            http://www.wowhead.com/spell=108499/grimoire-of-supremacy

                                                   6 Talent:            http://www.wowhead.com/spell=108505/archimondes-darkness

3)   Glyphs

Here are the 3 Glyphs that i use: http://www.wowhead.com/item=50077

                                                    http://www.wowhead.com/spell=56224

http://mop.buffed.de/item/Glyphe/Glyphe-Fluch-der-Erschoepfung-43392 (its the glyph for slow the                                                             enemy 70%)

4)   Rotation

At the beginning u snapshot ur target twice. snapshot? whats that?

If u like to snapshot ur target u need 1 shade.

First you Activate http://www.wowhead.com/spell=74434 > http://www.wowhead.com/spell=86121 now u have all dots at your target. So why do you need to snapshot twice?

You need to Snapshot twice because the passiv spell Pandemic. Pandemic make your dots hold last longer.

If u fight against more enemys then use http://www.wowhead.com/spell=86121 and spread your dots to every enemy u can catch.

Your job is to hold your dots on the enemys. If you cant hold your dots on enemy = lose.

Haunt http://www.wowhead.com/spell=48181 only shoot on targets who have all dots on it, or your haunt is useless.

5)   Burst

If u start to burst, you need (!) to refresh your dots in your burst! You can cast your dots and put it on enemy or you snapshot them.

6)   Some tricks

Against caster you should use: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=112869 .

Always try silence your enemy at high priority casts like: Chaos bolt, Fear, Cylon, Sheep or against                                                            mages silence him while you are in Deep Freze.

Against melees you should use: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=9221

Its important to put your pet on friendly, so if the enemy attaks you, your pet will stand next to you and                                                        your pet can disarm him.

In arenas always make circle and demonic gateway. Always be in the range of your circle it could save your life.

7)   Combos

For 2s i prefer: Resto shaman / affli

                         Boomkin / affli

That are the strongest combos for affli.

Ok guyes i am done, if you have any questions, you can pm me or whisper me ingame /w Drarxon .

PS: I know that this guide is not that good, and my english sucks, but you can write me pm to edit something.

Have a nice day!

The rotation is completly wrong.

the main rotation is

Unstable affliction > Agony > Corruption casted not instant cast with soulburn.

after that you have to stack your agony to 10 stack before soulswaping.

soulburn + soulswap is only to use when you already have ur dots on the target and you need to maximize their duration via pandemic cause you have procs ( refresh snapshotting the base of Aff lock ).

Never use soulburn soulswap if you don't have procs already on your target. AFTER you have all your dots on 1 target with max Agony or 5+ you can soulswap aroung the maximum of target !

Never use soulswap is your target can LoS easily as healers behind pillars.

Also for mass enemmies fight use seed of corruption in your rotation and use soulswap.

There is 2 ways of using haunt. One is to apply all dots and use haunt with curse of the element to make use of the gcd. Apply haunt only when you have all dots with 10 stack agony and your target is the main focus of your team.

don't spam haunt. Always keep 1 or 2 shards up to be ready to like soulburn port etc.

the second way is to apply haunt first and then cast your dot rotation and using malefic grasp to make the most damage from your trinket procs, dots and build your agony stack. Usefull against casters.

and alao i don't think you know what snapshot means.

for your tricks, using the void lord is not very usefull. Against hunters use the dispel magic from the imp ( grimoire of supremacy ).

Use your cs observer pet is obvious.

and you can use unboud will to come out from stuns/blind when you are facing a rogue.

you can also use soulburn + port to get immune to snares for 7 secs.

You can also make a macro for your pet to target focus so when ur facing a healer, he cannot drink because of your pet. This is pretty important because most of your arena games will go into dampening.

and for the comps you have in order :

Restauration Shaman / Aff Lock

Holy Paly / Aff Lock

Moonkin / Aff Lock

Elemental shaman / Aff Lock

Windwalker Monk / Aff Lock

Disc Priest / Aff lock

Sub Rogue / Aff Lock

Survival Hunt / Aff lock

Stat priority should always be in arena :

Haste > Mastery = Intellect > crit.

and in bg's Rbg's

Mastery = Intellect > Haste > crit.

From a pve perspective to boost your damage (which basicly is the same for pvp to maintain high damage) but it's probably way harder to execute in pvp

But what you wanna do is burst the moment you have trinket procs and other procs like jade spirit. The more you can line up the more powerfull your dots will be when you snapshot them.

Another trick in pvp which is alot harder to execute (and correct me if im wrong if it's not even usefull for pvp, but it is for maintaining high damage in pve!)

but the "trick" is that you want to try to get of a cast/global cooldown within your soulswaps. This will let you maintain your dots for longer which also means more damage in the long run. Since if you keep swapping around you wil basicly just go trough the 20 ish secs duration on the dots (taking the 20secs as avarage) but if you inhale a dot, then use a ability like life tap for mana or even cast a haunt if you can you will extend the dot duration by 1-2 seconds Since the dots will still tick on your targets, but the duration of the dots are not lowered by the time you inhaled them. So for example: If you inhale a dot with 10 seconds remaining, keep it with you for 1-2 seconds because you are casting a haunt or life tap within the time you have inhaled the dot, and then exhale them on the 2nd target will the 2nd target also take the 10 second dot you inhaled. if you inhale again it will mostly be at 9 seconds now. And if you cast another spell wth the trick your previous target has lost like 3-4 seconds on the duration (so its at 7 now) but you will put it back to 9 again due to the way you played.

If you did not do this trick your dots would basicly keep going and both dots would be at around 5-6 seconds for inhaling and exhaling rather ten a few extra seconds due to this trick.

I know this aint the best way to explain it.But i still hope you could make use of it :)

this trinket is not super recommanded in pvp because you can be cc'es between inhale and exhale. So you will lose your dots and dps. Using soulswap the fastest possible to avoid this if your getting trained.

that information are not in my guide because "  I will make now a small guide about affli lock

i use the word "snapshot" for Soulburn + Soulswap, snapshot correctly means if you get procs like pvp proc, pve proc, jade spirit or more haste from burst or some pve trinkets your dots will not get buffed dynamicly, you need to refresh them, and fastes way to refresh is to snapshot at the right moment with soulburn and soulswap

btw. i have the feeling that u think that i have no plan about my class and spec and how to fight against another classes

mostly yeah. Even in a small guide, you have to put some important things like the definition of snapshot. If your guide is small, it have to be understandable by all even those who don't play lock. Anf that's not the case atm.
