''Only the Worthy Shall Pass'' quest undoable

When you start fighting Master Li Fei you should gain buffs which help you defeat him, but you don't get them.
Is there a way to complete this quest some other way or skip it?

Okay, it is possible to beat him if you spam the heal spell for like 15 minutes straight. You also have to move from time to time, because he seems to despawn after not moving for like 5 minutes, but still pretty dumb.
