  1. Securing a Firestorm Account In this topic, we are going to show you some steps that you need to follow to secure your Firestorm Account in order to not get scammed or hacked in any way. Please read it carefully and make sure to follow every step, for your own good. Step one: Add an Authenticator. Two-Step-Verification (2fA) is extremely important and we highly recommend that you activate it since it will be so difficult for the hackers to access your account if it's activated. How to activate it: Open your Authenticator Overview page. Click on "Activate my Authenticator" but if it's green then that means it's activated. Download Authy which is the best Authenticator for Firestorm. You can read more about it here. Once it's downloaded, scan the QA barcode provided or add the code manually then you will be asked to enter the code that Authy provides in your Firestorm Account. When the Authenticator is activated, you will be asked for the Security Code to access our servers. Remember to download your recovery codes in case you lose your phone, etc. Note: Once you have registered your account with us, you will need to verify your registration and your account will be created. A verification e-mail will be sent to your e-mail address. It's highly recommended for the security of your account that you validate the verification e-mail since if your account is not validated, whoever has the password can change the account email or even the password. Step two: Use a strong Password. Make sure to use a mix of numbers, letters and symbols. You can use a phrase that's made up of multiple words but make sure it's easier for you to remember and harder for others to guess. Don't use that password for any other accounts. If you can't remember well, don't save it in a place that other people can find. Step three: Make sure to Secure your PC / Laptop. Scan your computer for malware, keyloggers and viruses. Keep your operating system updated since your PC / Laptop may miss some critical security updates. Make sure that you're the only one who use that PC / Laptop if possible. Step four: Friends and Family? Sharing your Firestorm Account or any other accounts with your Friends or Family is not really great. Authenticators and Passwords are being called by that for a reason, that means DON'T share them with your Friends or Family because doing so may put your account in danger. Make sure to Log out of your account or lock the PC / Laptop when you step away from it. Don't let your Friends or Family know your password or the location of your Authenticator. Additional (Important) Information: Don't share your account information with anyone. Make sure to validate your E-mail address on Firestorm. Never click on unknown links to avoid hacks, etc. Staff members (Administrators, Game Masters, Moderators, etc.) will NEVER ask for your account information. You have to know that your account is your responsibility. FAQ: Question: I lost my Authenticator and the Recovery codes, what can i do? Answer: You can contact any Administrator on Discord and before solving it for you, they will ask you a few questions. Question: Someone hacked my account and deleted my characters, items and used my gold, etc. Answer: As for your characters, you can restore it on the Firestorm Shop. As for your gold and items, etc., nothing we can do about them since according to our policies; Your account is your responsibility. Question: Someone stole my account, what can i do? Answer: According to our policies; we can't do anything about it since your account is you responsibility however you can contact any Administrator on Discord and they will ask you a few questions then MAYBE they will restore it.   2. Authenticator (Authy) The authentication module is available on the Firestorm Website via the Account Control Panel. Authy is a much better authenticator and has more options than Google Authenticator. We recommend you to use this one or make the change if you're still using Google Authenticator. Authy allows you to recover your information by SMS/Phone Number, backup of your authenticators, and use it across multiple devices. To make the changes, do the following: Open your Authenticator Overview page. Simply scan the QR code or Download the application. Remember to download your recovery codes in case you lose your phone, etc. If you wish to do it for all of your websites or applications, read the guide here. Outlook, Live and Hotmail Email Addresses For a long time, we have received many requests regarding players not receiving emails from Firestorm on Outlook, Live and Hotmail e-mail addresses. We highly recommend to players that that they quickly change your e-mail addresses to avoid any problems because you can't register with Microsoft e-mails anymore. One of the best known e-mail hosts is Gmail (Google) which never has had a problem with our email. To make the change, do the following: Open your Account Overview page. You will then see an option under your account information, hit the change button. Update your e-mail address to the new one you've made.   3. In this tutorial, you will learn some tips, tricks, and more security features for your Firestorm Account. We receive numerous tickets about players having their accounts compromised. As per our Policies and Guidelines your account is your responsibility, so let's get started with the tutorial. Your Account: Account Security is the number one reason why the majority of the players have their accounts compromised. Here are some tips and tricks on how to improve your account security and other ways to monitor your account activity. Protecting your Account Never share your account information with anyone else. Never enter your Firestorm Account credentials outside of the Firestorm Website. Never click on suspicious links even if they come from a friend. Log out of Firestorm completely when you're using a computer you share with other people. Make sure your account e-mail is verified. Use our Account Authenticator. Frequently run an anti-virus scan with a trusted anti-virus program. If it detects any suspicious programs or applications, remove it immediately. Frequently run Malware scans to ensure that your computer has no malware. Protecting your Password Do not use the same password you use for Firestorm anywhere else. Never share your password with anyone else, it should only be known to you. Avoid using common words, your name etc. in your password. Your password should be difficult to guess. Use a long password with symbol and numbers in it. To be sure that someone doesn't know your password, you should try to change it every three months. Additional Security Tools: View your website log ins. View your in-game log ins. Account Authenticator: The account authenticator provides an extra step in your account security. We recommend all players that are playing here enable this on their account to ensure that their account is fully secured. How it works Enable the authenticator, then scan the QR barcode with one of the applications. After you scan the barcode you will be prompted with a code, you will need to enter it. Every time you login from another location you will be prompted to enter the specific code that is on your application. How to set it up In order to set up the authenticator go to the Firestorm Website, and then click on "Account Information" under your "My Account" drop down. Once you've made it to the Account Authenticator page, you will see the icon Authenticator. Click on the button "Manage", if the icon is already green it's enabled for your account. Once on the authenticator page, you will be prompted to enable it, you can choose from the following applications which are provided for your account. Google Play Apple App Store Windows Store Blackberry World WinAuth Once you have downloaded one of those programs scan the barcode that is provided on the page with the application you're using. After that you'll be prompted by Firestorm to enter the code the application gives you. When the authenticator application is enabled, you'll be prompted to enter your access code when you log into our servers. Frequently Asked Questions: Q: I see suspicious activity on my account, it wasn't me? A: Please change your account password as soon as possible. Q: My account has been compromised, what can I do? A: Unfortunately due to our Policies and Guidelines your account is your responsibility and there is nothing we can do. Q: My password was changed, what can I do? A: You'll need to reset your password via the Forgot my Password tool. If you forgot your password to an old account you will need to use the Legacy Forgot my Password tool. Q: Some unauthorized person accessed my account and deleted my characters, what can I do? A: You'll need to restore your characters via the Shop. Q: Some unauthorized person accessed my account, deleted my items and used my gold. What can I do? A: As per Policies and Guidelines no items or gold will be restored as your account is your responsibility. Q: Will a Game Master ask me any information about my password? A: A Game Master will never ask you information about your account that would compromise its security.
