Because old players have their main character on older realms, and maybe they come back if they can play other expansions relaxed and pass through all of them. If we follow your reasoning, they should close all other realms and keep open only the latest one. But if you want to populate the other realms also, giving the possibility to grow up a character through all of them, it can be something that bring money, people and doesn't impact on the last expansion gameplay and economy.

Yeah, i know that they stopped the character copy from older realms, and it's right and obvious for the latest realm "Dornogal". That's why my proposal is to give the possibility to transfer 1 character per account, obviousely paying through the shop, from other realms (Icecrown, Deathwing, Garrosh, Gul'Dan, Sylvanas, Serthraliss, Oribos) up to Valdrakken, which is the latest realm -1.

It could be given an option to transfer one character per account from another realm to the desired realm, deleting that character from the starting realm.

Well, before it was possible to play every expansion on its realm, with the content quite full scripted and then transfer to another realm, but for now it isn't possible anymore. Fixing all the content on every expansion it's impossible, so the only thing that could be mantained through the expansions and the same account are mounts, pets and achievements (these are bugged atm, but it's way faster to fix this, than all the content on all realms).

Well, there may be a solution to this problem, the old content is quite fixed on the other realms of each expansion on Firestorm. So, linking the achievements also through all the expansion, obviously of the same account, just like it is for the mounts and the pets that are already linked through all the expansions can make also other expansions of Firestorm worth to be played much more than now. i've explained it in this post, so if you agree with this solution, you can answer to it in a positive way: Thank you!

Good evening, as Kellah suggested me in response to a ticket in the support section, i write here my suggestion, which may also resolve the problem connected to many transfer requests from older expansion to the latest one. My suggestion is to link achievements earned on older expansions through all the characters of the same account, like it is for mounts and pets, so the history of every character and of their owner itself isn't lost forever.
